	The department of La Vienne contains over 2020km of clean, beautiful and tranquil rivers. Fishing in La vienne falls into two categories. 1st (premiere) category mostly inhabited with game fish and a season from mid March - mid September. 2nd (deuxieme) category mostly inhabited wirh coarse fish and a season all year round. The Vienne has 540km of 1‌st category river fishing and 1480km of second category.
Our nearest river only a few minutes away from our stunning gites and pictured above is the beautiful Gartempe a 2nd category river where fishing is available all year round. In our local rivers (Gartempe, La Vienne, L'Anglin) we are able to catch Trout, Carp, Zander, Black Bass, Char, Grayling, Mullet, bream Lamprey etc.
	A few minutes from our idyllic gites are three carp lakes (one is featured below) at 'Leignes - sur Fontaine'.
Licences for all river fishing in France are obligatory and can be easily purchased from local bars and tabac stores. Charges are €65 per anum. €15 per anum (under 18), Vacation rates of €10 per day and €30 per 15 days. All licences include both categories, fly- fishing, and night carp fishing in designated areas.
